FAQ

Got a question to ask? If I have not already covered it below then please get in touch with me through Twitter (quickest and easiest way!) or by using my contact form.

General

Unfortunately, yes. Since 2012 this blog was called Wanderness (Wanderlust + Vanessa), HOWEVER some amazing human was somehow able to take over my domain name in mid 2018.

Even though my actual blog content, which is self hosted, was safe and I could access it like before, that someone had been able to steal from me like that caused me to lose motivation for my blog. There was no way I could go back to my url, so I had to come up with a new name.

Shy Girl Global was a name that I came up with on a quiet beach in Byron Bay when I was backpacking across Australia. I was struggling with feeling like an outsider in hostels, and planned to make a forum to network lonely female travellers.

It is very rare that I would accept a product for review, given the nature of my blog. However, if I do accept some sort of trip, object or service in which I receive as part of a monetary transaction it will be clearly outlined in the post.  For more information please see my disclaimer page.

I have a very demanding but rewarding full time occupation and in my spare time I’m usually reading, taking photos, or planning my next trip!

YES! For more information please use my contact form and I will try and get back in touch with you as soon as possible. I am based in the North East of England, but willing to travel.

If your a fellow blogger starting out then I am more than willing to highly discount if it helps you create content!

Travel

When looking for flights I always use a mix of Google Flights and Skyscanner. For hotels I usually look a bit deeper, and use a mix of booking sites such as Expedia and Bookings.com, and then I go and look directly on the hotels website to see if they would do it any cheaper by going direct.

I have also booked flights directly through the airline before and found that generally that was easier than using a third party.

I am always happy to give booking advice over twitter if there is a specific question you have, but if you want an in depth service which tailors your holidays then please use my contact form to get in touch. There may be a charge for this service.

Absolutely! I have previously travelled abroad to work with hotels (see my media kit) so if you have an opportunity for travel bloggers that I may be interested in then please either contact me via Twitter, or my contact form.
